Turkish "Enfauser" - Mauser/Enfield Hybrid Rifle
This video explores the unique Turkish 'Enfauser' rifle, a fascinating hybrid developed in the mid-1930s. Turkey sought to standardize its bolt-action rifle inventory, modifying existing Mausers, Gewehr 88s, and even British Lee Enfields. These 'Enfausers' received Mauser sights and furniture and were chambered in 8mm Mauser. Originating from rifles captured during WWI campaigns like Kut and Gallipoli, these rifles represent a curious chapter in military firearm evolution. The video highlights a specific example from the 103rd Mahratta Light Infantry, which surrendered at Kut in 1916. Only a few hundred are believed to have made it to the US.
