H&K 512 Old-School Tactical Shotgun
This video delves into the history and unique features of the H&K 512, an "old-school tactical shotgun" developed by Heckler & Koch in the late 1970s. Lacking in-house shotgun expertise, H&K partnered with Franchi of Italy. Franchi manufactured the gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun, with H&K assembling the parts in Germany to legally brand them as H&K products. Approximately 1500 units were produced, primarily sold to security agencies in Europe, with a smaller batch imported into the US in the late 80s/early 90s. A key distinguishing feature highlighted is the OEM A&W Diverter, designed to alter the shot pattern from circular to a rectangular shape, intended for tactical scenarios to minimize collateral damage to bystanders.
