Scoped Sharps 1874 Buffalo Rifle
This video showcases a meticulously restored and modified 1874 Sharps rifle. Originally shipped in 1879 with a medium-weight .45 caliber barrel and open sights, this particular example was later re-barreled by a Cheyenne gunsmith to a heavier .40-100 caliber. It's further enhanced with a period-appropriate Rice telescopic sight mounted in a free-floating system. While predating the peak buffalo hunting era, the rifle represents the advanced configuration sought by serious hunters and target shooters of the late 19th century, offering a glimpse into historical firearm customization and performance.
