Ross MkII: Sorry, We'll Get it Right This Time
This video examines the Ross MkII rifle, a significant improvement over the problematic MkI. The MkII features strengthened components like sights, nosecap, and bolt latch, a thicker receiver, and added cams for a smoother bolt throw. Primary extraction was also introduced. Several variations of the MkII existed, including a distinct 'long' pattern (MkII**) with a longer barrel, aperture sight, and stripper clip guide, which excelled in competition. Despite initial issues, the MkII salvaged the Ross rifle's reputation and saw service in World War I with Canadian artillery units, as well as being used for training by both Canada and the US. The video highlights the rifle's historical context and mechanical evolution.
